If you're a budget-conscious traveller, easyJet can be one of the best airlines for affordable flights across Europe. However, knowing when and how to book can make a huge difference in getting the best deals.

After years of flying with easyJet on extreme day trips, I've picked up some key strategies to maximise savings and convenience. Here's how you can do the same in 2025!

1. Book as Far in Advance as Possible

The cheapest fares are usually available months in advance. easyJet releases flights in batches, and as of now, tickets are available until March 2026. That means I'm already looking at flights for September, November, and January 2026.

While booking early is key, don't rush in on the first day of release—prices can be inflated due to demand (more on that below).

2. Don't Book the Moment Flights Are Released

A common mistake travelers make is rushing to book as soon as easyJet releases new fares. When flights first go live, prices spike due to high demand. Waiting about two weeks after release can often result in lower prices.

For example, I saw a flight to Antalya, Turkey priced at £500 per person just after release. Two weeks later, the same route dropped to £150!

3. Avoid Peak Travel Times

Flights during peak seasons, like school holidays and public holidays, are naturally more expensive due to increased demand. If you have flexibility in your schedule, consider flying:

  • Outside of UK school holidays
  • On mid-week days (Tuesday & Wednesday tend to be cheapest)
  • In shoulder seasons (Spring & Autumn instead of Summer & Christmas)

This small adjustment alone can slash ticket prices by more than half.

Tourist hotspots like Paris, Rome, and Barcelona always command higher prices. But easyJet flies to many underrated destinations that offer incredible value.

For example, I recently booked an extreme day trip to Sofia, Bulgaria, for just £45.98—on a Saturday! The flight was full, but Sofia isn't a mainstream tourist destination (yet), making it one of the best budget-friendly choices.

5. Know When Weekends Can Still Be Cheap

While mid-week flights are often cheapest, you can still find bargain weekend flights between September and June—outside of major holiday periods.

Saturday and Sunday returns can be surprisingly low-cost if booked well in advance.

6. Consider Easyjet plus If You Fly Frequently

If you take more than 4 return trips per year, especially if you prefer front-row seating, then easyJet Plus might be worth the £249 annual fee.

With easyJet Plus, you get:

  • Free premium seat selection
  • Priority boarding
  • Fast-track security
  • Two carry-on bags included
  • 10% off in-flight food & drink
  • And more benefits...

I personally save over £1,000 per year with this membership. Check out my full review on whether easyJet Plus is worth it or not.

7. Keep an Eye on Easyjet Sales

easyJet runs several major sales per year, and these can offer insane savings on flights.

For example, I scored a day trip to Rome in July for just £35.98 during one of their sales.

Bonus tip: Sign up for easyJet's newsletter and follow their social media channels to be notified when the next sale drops!

8. Flight Cancelled? Take a Voucher Instead of a Refund

If easyJet cancels your flight before departure, they usually offer either a full refund or a voucher with an extra incentive.

In the past, they gave an additional £10 per return flight for choosing the voucher option.

In just one year, I have racked up £270 in free flight credits from cancellations alone! While this policy may change, it's worth checking what's on offer before automatically opting for a refund.

Final Thoughts

By following these strategies, you can fly with easyJet for a fraction of the price while enjoying extra perks.

Whether you're an Extreme Day Tripper or just someone looking for budget-friendly travel, timing is everything when it comes to booking flights.
