As someone who frequently embarks on day trips across Europe, I've found that certain travel memberships can significantly enhance the experience. One such membership is easyJet Plus, which I've been using extensively.
It costs £249 a year, which is quite a large outlay, but what do you get for your money and is it worth it for someone who takes regular Extreme Day Trips and overnighters?
easyJet Plus is an annual membership program priced at £249. It offers a suite of benefits designed to make your travel smoother and more cost-effective. These perks include:
I use London Gatwick a lot, and I have a favourite seat on the plane that I like to have, and helps me get off the plane quickly at the other end. I always go for seat 1F!
1F is a pricey seat to have - it is the front row with all the legroom - and the most expensive! So imagine having to fork out each time for that seat!
I did a quick pick flight on easyJet to get an idea of how much it costs each way - LGW to Athens. 1F was £49.99 outbound, and £31.99 back. That is £81.98 for one return flight.
On that basis alone, if you did three return flights sitting in seat 1F each way, the membership would pay for itself.
Fast Track Security at Gatwick is quite quick, and in busy periods it can be worth the £6 fee....but it is included with the membership...so add it to our flight to Athens and so far, we have saved £87.98.
And potentially could save you the same again on the return at Athens (not all airports have an agreement for priority security for easyJet plus members) - €8 per passenger. So that's roughly £94 in total
You also get an additional large cabin bag which is normally £29.99 per flight (so £59.98 return) included should you be staying overnight or just need the extra luggage.
Other benefits: If the price of your airfare drops after you book it (and you notice!), call them up and they will send you a voucher for the difference. I have had quite a lot back on this scheme.
10% off in-flight food and drinks and the shop (NOT including tobacco or alcohol)
Get on an earlier flight free - I've not had to do this, but always an option if you are stuck!
With just three return flights in my favourite seat, I've pretty much covered the cost of the year's membership fee.
22 return flights last year and 23 booked for this year, yes, it was absolutely worth it for me!
For 2022, I saved around £1,100 (based on cheaper seat choice fees - they have gone up quite a bit this year!)
For 2023 and 2024, I will have saved about £1,800 … so for me, it makes sense!
So if you think you will be doing a few day trips with easyJet this year, you may want to consider easyJet plus membership.
Deciding whether easyJet Plus is a good investment depends on how often you fly and which benefits you'll actually use. Thankfully, easyJet provides a Benefits Calculator to help you estimate potential savings based on your expected number of flights in a year.
Visit the easyJet Plus Benefits Calculator – You can access it on the official easyJet Plus website to get a personalised estimate.
Enter the number of one-way flights you expect to take in the next 12 months. The calculator will automatically determine how much you could save on:
Compare the savings against the £249 membership fee. If your total savings exceed this cost, the membership is likely a worthwhile investment.
Example Calculation:
According to the screenshot above, a traveler expecting to take 12 one-way flights (only 6 return trips) could save:
That totals £714 in potential savings, which significantly outweighs the £249 membership fee.
Simply put in your own numbers into the calculator and see how it stacks up for you ✈
These are time sensitive but if you're a Bronze, Silver, or Gold BA Executive Club member, easyJet is offering 51% off easyJet Plus membership—but only if you apply before 12th March 2025.
For those who aren't BA Exec members, there's still a 15% discount available for new members using code PLUS15 until 31st March 2025.
